Community BTS

Update:
Sadly the behind the scenes clip with Director Duke Johnson and myself has been deleted from Youtube.

However here are a few clips of actors Danny Pudi (Abed) and Allison Brie (Annie) visiting the production.  The clips are a little goofy but show some interesting behind the scenes action.

By the way, there was absolutely no "Claymation" involved in this production.
;-)

It's Christmas!  To celebrate why don't you take a look at the Christmas episode of Community airing again   @ 8 on NBC Christmas night!

Here's a behind the scenes clip with Director Duke Johnson.  And that's me in the background, being a busy worker bee prepping a shot.

20,000 years from now they'll say...

Update:
Since the Youtube account containing all of the links to the Christmas 2010 episode of Community has been deleted, I've been having to find substitute clips so as to keep the blog current.  Here is another replacement clip containing a slightly longer version of the opening sequence to the episode from the original post:

Here's the opening theme from the Community Christmas episode, complete with Abed singing and dancing!

The first shot in the sequence is animated by Eileen Kohlhepp.  I animated the second shot onward.  I was joined by Assistant Animator Nicole Emmons and Intern Sophya Vidal. Thanks for the help guys!

We had a great crew for this project! For credits for the entire crew please check out 23dfilms.com

Happy Holidays!

Modern Christmas Classic!

Here's a clip for the season!

One of the scenes I shot for the holiday film Elf starring Will Ferrell and directed by Jon Favreau.

The animation was shot at the Chiodo Bros. with Animation Director Stephen Chiodo.

This was in fact the very last time that I shot professionally using film. We used an old 35mm Mitchell camera. It's amazing how times and technology have changed in just a few short years! Now everything is digital.

Really proud to have played just a small part in this charming, modern holiday classic!

Stay honest, stay alert, and... stay between the gumdrops!/Winter Wonderland

Update:
As mentioned in an update from an earlier post, the Youtube account that contained all of the Community clips I had posted has been deleted and the links no longer work.

However, I have scoured the internet for replacement clips of the episode (Season 2 Episode 11). Another one of which I present to you here.  It's from the official Community page on Hulu.  Much of this sequence was animated by yours truly.

Take a look:

It's not just a shoehorn!

So here's the first posting that's got nothin' to do with anything, except that it amuses me.

This is ridiculous in so many ways!  Not the least of which is Gilbert Gottfried's voice over.

I present to you ShoeDini!

The Most Important Christmas in the History of the Universe!

Update:
Apparently the Youtube account that I was linking to for all of the Community Christmas episode clips (that I thought was the official NBC Community Youtube account) has been deleted. That of course means the links no longer work.  However, I have managed to find some substitute clips.  Here is the first of them.  It's a full episode recap from NBC.com

Enjoy!

Looka here man...

Speaking of Star Wars, here's a treat for you, something from the mind of Mr. Donald Faison!

It's part one of an epic story set in the world of Star Wars and animated with Legos!  I present to you the tale of...

Black Storm Trooper!

Donald animated 99% of this!  Not only is he a fine actor but he is also becoming quite a good animator as well.

We've been working hard on the next installment.  Part 2 coming soon!

I don't want just a burger!

Here's a spot from a few months ago for Carl's Jr. and their Philly Cheesesteak Burger.

Its one of three spots I worked on over @ BixPix with director Karni Baghdikian and lead animator Nancy Parczyk.

Small crew that was laid back and fun to work with.  It was also the first time I animated Legos professionally.  I think it turned out pretty well.

Now that's what I'm talking about!

Here's another one of the pixilated Honda spots from Buck!

It was a lotta work but a lotta fun.

I AM Loving It!

Here's A McDonald's commercial I worked on briefly a few months ago.

As always, it was a pleasure to work with the fellas over @ Screen Novelties!

Transformation BTS

Here's a fun behind the scenes clip of the Acura "Transformation" spot.

A couple of long cold night shoots, but it was fun!

Transform and roll out!

Here's another pixilated car commercial I worked on a few months back.

RPA was also behind this one along with Biscuit and director Christopher Riggert.

It was great working with my friend Animation Supervisor Helder K. Sun and lead animator Kevin Glick.

Holiday Oh Holiday!

So first off, here is a brand new Honda commercial I worked on last month!

It is one of four pixilated commercials for the season brought to you by the folks over at RPA and Buck TV.

The job was a blast and I finally got to work with Animation Supervisor Jamie Caliri. Other animators on the project included lead animator Madame Sylvie Trouve and Monsier Fred Caron of the Canadian animation collective La Moustache as well as Señor Matt Manning.

I'm new here...

Hello Interweb!  So I've finally decided to start my own blog.  I'm obviously new to this so give me a bit to get the hang of it. From time to time I'll be posting info about projects I've been working on, things that amuse me, and occasionally work from my students, friends or colleagues that warrants mentioning. Word.
